About

ImageInspired by as many tapes  as he could collect reflecting the excitement of original top 40 radio in the USA, Peter soon decided  he must also  play records on the radio for a living. He joined the first tier of commercial radio in the UK and has grown up with the challenges of independent commercial radio in Britain. Today he takes his talents to a  list of English speaking  music radio stations and continues to have great fun between the tunes.
Credit for this top 40 radio format is widely given to Todd Storz, who was the director of radio station KOWH Nebraska in1951. At that time typical radio programming consisted largely of pre-scheduled, sponsored programs.  Storz noted the great response certain songs got from the record-buying public and compared it to the way certain selections on jukeboxes were played over and over. Hey presto,,, top 40 radio, thanks Todd;
Although Todd Storz is regarded as the father of the top 40 format, Gordon Mc Lendon of Dallas is regarded as the person who took an idea and turned it into a mass media marketing success in combination with the development in that same city of PAMS  jingles. McLendon's successful Mighty 1190 KLIF  in Dallas and his other US stations have become the most imitated radio stations globally. Your local station today will be effected by  some of Gordon Mc Lendon's  expertise (if its any good :}
